Since Waves came out in May it has felt like Ro$$eTTi is just one song away from taking off. His new single “Heat Check” very well could be the one to do it. The beat starts out with an airy feel to it, then all of a sudden, the 808s kick in and create a real WTF moment. Ro$$eTTi hops on along with the 808 and delivers that smooth (borderline nonchalant) flow that we’ve become accustomed to hearing from the Virginia emcee. Although the backdrop is a bit different from what he normally spits over, the bars are still there. My personal favorite line is when he says “Quick PSA: a member from PETA get punched in the face if they ever throw paint on my mink. I’m so fucking serious… I’m so fucking serious.” Despite the laid back delivery, you can tell he meant that with every bone in his body. To put it simply this song slaps and needs to be added to your Friday night playlist ASAP.
