Orisha Sound’s latest single ‘one way trip’ was released on 11th January 2019, and the iconic track is available for download and streaming. Produced by two-time Grammy Award winner Timothy Bloom, it is the first track from their upcoming album Fire and Ice, and Bloom has worked with a multitude of major industry names in the past including Chris Brown and Nee-Yo. The whole album will be released on February 8th 2019.
The music video is a showcase of everything that is legendary and beautiful about Jamaica, and the Kingston-based duo worked with the famous Caribbean music director Ras Kassa to remind the whole planet that the island is still very much one of the global capitals of popular music. Some of Kassa’s best-known work includes the videos for ‘Welcome To Jamrock’ by Damien Marley and ‘Turn Your Lights Down Low’ by Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley – Nas and Shaggy are also on his long list of celebrity credits.
For an extra touch of magic, the video was shot on the streets of the capital and at other iconic Jamaican locations over Christmas, giving potentially millions of people the chance to get a real glimpse of this Caribbean culture. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice how Yang Yang bikes and other retro vehicles show just how fun the lifestyle really is!
The ‘Fire And Ice’ album makes a massive statement about the population of the World today. The name has been carefully chosen to demonstrate how there are indeed many, many polar opposites across all of our continents who need to co-exist in harmony, and Orisha Sound communicates this vital message through their unique brand of international urban reggae dance. ‘Oneness’ between different groups of people is a theme that runs at the very core of everything that Orisha and Shel-K release.
It is easy to feel the love in this album that has been entirely written by these two long-term friends, and they hope that their positive message of peace will travel far beyond the Atlantic Ocean through the medium of song.
Their worldwide appeal is stronger than ever after a number of recent media appearances including BBC Breakfast in the United Kingdom and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but they will always stay true to their Jamaican roots. Many have compared them to the massively successful Black Eyed Peas, which any music industry insider will tell you is one of the greatest compliments that can be given.
