Church of the Highlands, which happens to be the 3rd or 4th largest church in America planted a church on the Westside of Birmingham (a predominantly black community) and racial tensions immediately began to flare out of control before they even started having church services. Some black who were already established in the community viral-ized the situation by displaying their outrage against having a “white church” in a black community on church billboards and holding tv news conferences.
In response, Church of the Highlands reached out to often viewed “secular” hip-hop artist Devonta Ravizee or “Devonta” and asked him to create a song about his personal faith journey and the things surrounding the church in response, and this is what he did.
Were they right to allow this artist to create this song in response to the negative energy directed to their church efforts? Tell us your thoughts and share..
